SEO Myth

It was once believed that websites with a dedicated IP address would receive an SEO benefit. This myth was born in 2003 when Craig Silverstein, then Director of Technology at Google, stated that using a dedicated IP address would provide a significant benefit to SEO efforts.

However, Gary Illyes of Google recently stated that the use of shared servers versus a dedicated IP does not affect SEO rankings. Google’s John Mueller also supported this correction in a 2018 tweet.
